Hands-on cooking program

Let Dante Alighieri – Siena develop a customized hands-on cooking program for you!

Whether you are a U.S. institution of higher education with a group of students for a full quarter program or a Study Abroad Tour agency for a one-day lesson while touring Siena, Dante Alighieri – Siena will custom-make a cooking program which will be an unforgettable experience. Our English coordinator will brief your students on the magic of Tuscan cuisine before the course starts; which can be given in either English or Italian.

We are proud to have wonderful chefs who have been with Dante Alighieri for over 20 years. Our dining room sits up to 50 students comfortably. For those wishing to incorporate Italian studies, we can arrange to have the cooking courses taken contemporaneously with any of the Internships, Italian language and Culture courses we offer.

Our hands-on courses have a thematic flair which includes special seasonal recipes as well as traditional Italian and Tuscan cooking. Encounter the culinary arts like never before by creating fresh vegetable and meat dishes in spring; tasty fish dishes in summer; sample truffles, cabbage, chestnut and mushroom dishes in fall; and poultry dishes and delectable tarts and cakes in winter. Plus, uncover the art of creating traditional and Medieval cuisine by learning some truly age-old recipes dating back to the Middle Ages! Finally if you prefer to develop your skills in modern cooking, “Pane, Pizza, Pasta Week” will also put a smile on your face.

Lessons begin with the study of ingredients, a brief description of the recipes and then one learns the true art of Italian cooking by participating hands-on in an elaborate step by step process of the four or five course meal you are about to create! The antipasto, primo, secondo, contorno and dolce are all significant parts of the art of fine and healthy dining. And for the time you’ve been anticipating the most…. lunch on the feast you created!

Testimonials

As a representative of a U.S. institution of higher education, I have worked with Dante Alighieri in Siena for several years. My expectations have been surpassed in the quality of academic program and logistical support they offer my students. — Aaron Rose, BYU Program Coordinator., http://www.danteabroad.org/about-us/testimonial/
